Best Year Make Model Fitment Search for Auto Parts Stores

Seven ways to add vehicle fitment search to a parts store, checked on each vendor’s own site in October 2026: platforms, ACES and PIES, VIN and plate lookup, catalog limits and published prices.

A parts store lives or dies on one question: does this fit my truck? Year/make/model fitment search answers it before checkout. The shopper picks a vehicle once and the store shows only parts that fit, then confirms the details that decide the part, like bed length on a tonneau cover or engine on an exhaust. Get it wrong and you pay twice, once in returns and again in shoppers who leave because they could not tell.

Disclosure: PartsLogic is the search and fitment product Web Shop Manager builds, and it is listed first because it is ours. Our partners are listed next, then the rest alphabetically. Facts about every other option come from its own website or app store listing, checked in October 2026. Prices and limits change, so confirm them with the vendor before you commit.

How to choose fitment search for a parts store

  • Where your fitment comes from. If your brands send ACES files, pick a tool that reads them on a schedule. If you keep fitment in a spreadsheet, CSV import is enough to start. Learn how ACES and PIES data standards work.
  • Qualifiers, not only year, make and model. Two trucks of the same year can take different parts. Ask whether the tool asks for engine, bed length or door count before the shopper buys.
  • Your platform. Most apps are built for one platform. Check that the tool you like is listed for the store you run.
  • How the price scales. Some tools charge by vehicle entries, some by products, some by monthly visitors. Price it against your real catalog and traffic, not the entry plan.
  • VIN and plate entry. Useful on phones and at the counter, but only when products carry fitment data the decoded vehicle can match.

Seven fitment search options for auto parts stores

1. PartsLogic Search (ours)

PartsLogic is the search and fitment product Web Shop Manager builds. It runs on every Web Shop Manager store and integrates with Shopify and BigCommerce, where it is listed in the BigCommerce app marketplace as Year Make Model + Data by PartsLogic. Shoppers type or speak a vehicle and a keyword into one search bar, so “2017 F150 tono covr” finds tonneau covers for a 2017 F-150. A fitment verifier then asks for the qualifiers that decide the part: bed length for a bed cover, two or four doors for floor mats, engine for an exhaust.

Fitment and product data load on a schedule from the systems you already use: your website, a PIM such as PDM, an ERP, distributors such as Turn 14, and repositories such as SEMA Data. Shoppers can also set their vehicle by VIN or by license plate, and the vehicle is saved to a garage that holds more than one vehicle. Search analytics connect to Google Analytics.

Who it fits: parts sellers with large, fitment-heavy catalogs who want search, qualifier prompts and scheduled data loads from one team, on Web Shop Manager, Shopify or BigCommerce.

Where it falls short: pricing is a quote, not a published plan, so you cannot price it from a web page. VIN and plate lookup only narrow the catalog if your products carry ACES applications, and plate lookups run through a paid plate-to-VIN service billed per attempt. A store with a few hundred simple parts will not use most of what it does.

2. SureFit by SureDone (partner)

SureDone is a multichannel listing platform, and SureFit is its year/make/model search. SureDone’s own site says SureFit works on BigCommerce, Shopify and SureDone’s storefront, and builds its vehicle selector from the fitment already in your SureDone catalog, whether that is eBay ePIDs, ACES or custom entries. It adds a My Garage feature, a “This Fits Your Vehicle” message and fitment tables on product pages. See how SureDone works with a Web Shop Manager storefront on our SureDone partner page.

Who it fits: sellers who already list on eBay Motors through SureDone and want their website search built from the same fitment data.

Where it falls short: it depends on a SureDone account, and SureDone does not publish SureFit pricing. When we checked, the Shopify App Store showed the SureFit listing as not currently available and we could not find a live BigCommerce listing, so confirm availability on your platform with SureDone before you plan around it.

3. Convermax

Convermax is a fitment search specialist with apps in the Shopify App Store and the BigCommerce marketplace. Its Shopify listing says it connects to ACES and PIES files, spreadsheets or 16 fitment sources, and names Turn 14 Distribution and SEMA Data. Pricing is published: Stage 1 is $250 a month for up to 50,000 monthly visitors and 250,000 products, Stage 2 is $450 for 100,000 visitors and 500,000 products, and Stage 3 is $850 for 1,000,000 visitors and 1,000,000 products. VIN search is part of Stage 3. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial.

Who it fits: Shopify and BigCommerce parts stores with real fitment data and enough traffic to justify a specialist app.

Where it falls short: the entry price is well above the general YMM apps, and VIN search only comes with the top plan. Convermax notes that themes outside its supported list need customization for the search interface. We did not find license plate lookup on its site.

4. EasySearch YMM Year Make Model

EasySearch, from NexusMedia, is one of the longest-running fitment apps in the Shopify App Store, listed since 2016 with a 4.9 rating from 169 reviews when we checked. The Basic plan is $19 a month with unlimited fields, rows, users and products. Premium is $75 a month and adds a fitment table, universal products and My Garage. Fitment comes in by CSV, can be built inside the app, or syncs from Turn 14 Distribution or Slingshot Automotive.

Who it fits: Shopify stores that want an established, low-cost YMM search and buy from Turn 14 or Slingshot, or can keep a fitment spreadsheet current.

Where it falls short: the listing does not mention ACES or PIES, VIN or license plate lookup, so a store working from brand ACES files should ask how those files get into the app. It is a Shopify app, so it does not help a BigCommerce store.

5. Spark Fitment YMM Filter

Spark Fitment comes from Spark Shipping, a dropship automation company, and was listed in the Shopify App Store in July 2026. It adds a Year/Make/Model/Submodel/Engine selector through the theme editor, keeps universal-fit parts visible, and saves the shopper’s vehicle in a garage. The free plan covers 5,000 vehicle entries, Growth is $50 a month for 20,000, and Pro is $100 a month with no vehicle entry limit.

Who it fits: smaller Shopify catalogs that want to start free and load fitment from a spreadsheet.

Where it falls short: it is new and had no reviews when we checked. The listing names CSV import and manual mapping as the data paths and does not mention ACES, PIES, VIN or plate lookup.

6. Year Make Model Search for BigCommerce

This BigCommerce marketplace app is supported by Capacity Web Solutions and had a 5.0 rating from 13 reviews when we checked. It covers automotive, powersports, machinery and heavy equipment stores, with a fitment block and compatibility chart on product pages, bulk assignment and universal products. CSV imports accept year ranges such as 1990 to 2012 and create a record for each year. Plans are $29.99, $49.99 and $69.99 a month after a 7-day free trial.

Who it fits: BigCommerce stores that want an inexpensive selector and manage fitment in spreadsheets.

Where it falls short: the listing does not mention ACES or PIES, VIN or plate lookup, so fitment from brand data files needs converting to its CSV format first.

7. YMM Fitment AI: Parts Search

YMM Fitment AI, from Expound Coderz, launched in the Shopify App Store in September 2025 and covers auto, powersports, agricultural, marine and equipment parts. Next to the vehicle selector it offers an AI parts assistant that accepts photo uploads. Plans are $9.99 a month for 5,000 YMM combinations, $29.99 for 20,000 and $49.99 for 80,000, each with a 7-day trial.

Who it fits: small Shopify stores testing fitment search on a tight budget.

Where it falls short: it had no reviews when we checked, the AI assistant is capped by monthly message allowances, and fitment loads by CSV with no ACES, PIES, VIN or plate support listed. A large catalog can outgrow the 80,000 combination ceiling.

What about the platform’s own fitment search?

Shopify and BigCommerce do not include a year/make/model selector in the core catalog. When we searched the Shopify App Store for “year make model”, every fitment app in the results came from a third-party developer, and the BigCommerce marketplace works the same way. That is why the list above is mostly apps.

Platforms built for parts take the other route. On Web Shop Manager, year/make/model lookup is native to the platform, the selected vehicle stays applied across browsing, search and product pages, and PartsLogic Smart Search adds keyword search, qualifier prompts and scheduled data loads on top. If fitment is the hard part of your whole business, not only your search bar, compare platforms as well as apps in the Aftermarket eCommerce Guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is year make model fitment search?

It is search that knows the shopper’s vehicle. The shopper picks a year, make and model once, and the store shows only the parts that fit it across search results, category pages and product pages. Better tools also ask for the qualifiers that decide the part, such as engine, bed length or door count.

Do Shopify and BigCommerce have built-in year make model search?

Not as a vehicle selector in the core catalog when we checked. Both stores add it through apps: a search for “year make model” in the Shopify App Store returned dozens of fitment apps, all from third-party developers, and the BigCommerce marketplace lists several more. Platforms built for parts, such as Web Shop Manager, include year/make/model fitment as part of the platform.

Do I need ACES data to use a fitment search app?

No. Most apps accept a spreadsheet of vehicles and parts. ACES matters once your brands send fitment in that format, because an app that reads ACES files on a schedule keeps fitment current without rebuilding the spreadsheet every time a brand updates its data.

Can shoppers search by VIN or license plate?

On some tools. PartsLogic offers VIN and license plate lookup, and Convermax includes VIN search on its top plan. A VIN or plate only sets the vehicle: the catalog still needs ACES applications on its products before the lookup can narrow results.

How are fitment search apps priced?

Usually by the size of your fitment data or your traffic. The entry-level Shopify and BigCommerce apps charge by vehicle entries or YMM combinations, from free to about $100 a month. Convermax charges by monthly visitors and product count, from $250 a month. PartsLogic and SureFit quote pricing directly.

Should I add a fitment app or move to a platform with fitment built in?

If your store works and the gap is parts search, add fitment search first. It is faster and lower risk than a migration. Consider a platform built for parts when fitment, data loading and dealer pricing are all causing trouble at once.
